At the present time consumers are increasingly inclined to use organic textile products manufactured with maximum care taken to protect the environment and this affects Celebrity Fashion development, too. The object of the present study is to compare the life cycle and impact of production processes of recycled cotton with those of conventional cotton, in order to demonstrate the enormous advantages for the environment of using recycled cotton in the manufacture of all kinds of textile garments, since this raw material is one of the most sought after textiles for fabric manufacture.
The use of recycled cotton yarn has the advantages of consuming less water and chemical products, does not contaminate the subsoil, water or air, consumes less energy, recycles textile garments or fabrics which would otherwise become waste, provides economic benefts to developing countries which have been seriously damaged in recent years due to excessive mass production of cotton, and above all, production costs are lower than when using conventional or fully certifed organic cotton.
According to the May 2007 Vogue appears not to be a short-term trend but one could last multiple seasons. While environmentalism used manifest itself in the fashion world through a donation of percentage of sales of a product to a charitable cause, fashion designers are now re-introducing eco-conscious methods at the source through the use of environmentally friendly materials and socially responsible methods of production.
According to Earth Pledge, a non-profit organization (NPO) committed to promoting and supporting sustainable development, “At least 8,000 chemicals are used to turn raw materials into textiles and 25% of the world’s pesticides are used to grow non-organic cotton. This causes irreversible damage to people and the environment, and still two thirds of a garment’s carbon footprint will occur after it is purchased.”

The introduction of the mini skirt is often given to Mary Quant, a fashion designer in England. Others credit this fashion statement to André Courrèges, a French fashion designer. Both designers claim the invention of this fashion craze, although it is unclear who developed it first. There is no doubt that Courrèges designs changed fashion forever while Quant arguably liberated women’s fashion as the way we know it today.
In the United States, the mini skirt didn’t gain nationwide popularity until 1966-1967. Since its introduction, the popularity has grown in exponential numbers. When this fashion trend was first introduced, the hemline could typically be found 4-5 inches above the knee, although it has been reported that in London, the hemline could be found 7-8 inches above the knee. Today, the mini skirt is shorter than ever.
As part of a growing trend, many women today are wearing these skirts with leggings or hot pants underneath to compensate for the length. Often, this fashion trend is made with such a short hem, it is necessary to wear another piece of clothing underneath. Many women feel comfortable and look quite stylish wearing the mini skirt in Continue reading »
